How does IOS Press provide access to e-books?
Online access to our e-book collection is available through the IOS Press Books
Online platform and the following vendors: NetLibrary, ebrary, MyiLibrary, Ebooks
Corporation and Dawsonera.
What kind of access do you offer at IOS Press Books Online?
We offer institutional access through IP verification and individual access through
a username and password (pay-per-view). Individual users can also take a subscription
to a book series, through IP verification
How do I know what I have access to?
The content you have Full Text Access to is listed in the top left corner of
all pages. (Log in first if you have access through a username and password.)
Can I access my content online and offline?
Yes, once you are logged in with your username and password, or have access through
IP verification, you can access your books and articles online, print them or download
them to your computer.
Do you have 1 complete PDF with all of the articles of 1 e-book at IOS Press
Books Online?
Our policy is to make the content of our e-books available by offering individual
articles. We only offer the complete PDF in certain cases, such as monographs.
Do you offer perpetual access or does it expire?
The access rights of the individual user do not, in principle, expire. However,
we do reserve the right to withdraw any item on IOS Press Books Online from publication,
for legal reasons or otherwise.
Where can I find information on Rights and Restrictions?
For the individual user there is a Terms of Use. Institutional access is also
subject to the license agreement between the institution and IOS Press.
LIBRARIES AND CONSORTIA
My library wants to buy a subscription to an e-book series. How does it work?
Institutional access at IOS Press Books Online is arranged through IP verification.
For the subscription terms please send your details and those of the series to info@iospress.nl.
Alternatively, go to the book series of your choice and click on (blue button) "Contact
IOS Press for subscription terms".
My library is interested in buying access to some of your e-books. Is a minimum
turnover or quantity required?
No, we do not require a minimum turnover. The minimum quantity for institutional
access is a single e-book. We do not provide institutional access to individual
articles.
How many concurrent users are allowed (using the same account at the same time)?
Access through username and password is limited to 1 user at any time. Institutional
access through IP verification includes a multi-user, concurrent use license.
Do you provide usage reports?
Yes, for institutional customers we can provide a COUNTER compliant usage report
of the downloads.
Do you charge annual fees for IOS Press Books Online?
No, we do not charge our subscribers or other customers annual fees.
AUTHORS & INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMERS
I wanted to access the PDF file of the article I wrote and access was denied.
Can you assist?
Authors are not entitled to free access to their articles at IOS Press Books
Online. If you would like to purchase the article, please follow the steps under
Can I order a PDF of my own article to publish on my website or deposit in a
repository?
As an author contributing to an IOS Press publication, you retain the right to
use your own article (provided you acknowledge the published original in standard
bibliographic citation form) in the following ways, as long as you do not sell it
in ways that would conflict directly with our efforts to disseminate it. 1.You are
free to use your article for internal, educational or other purposes of your own
institution or company;2. You may use the article, in whole or in part, as the basis
for your own further publications or spoken presentations; 3. You may mount the
final version of your article published by IOS Press on your own, your institution's,
company’s or funding agency’s website. The license for this last option costs €100,
which includes the full text PDF file of the published version. To order a licensed
author copy of an article, send an email to: info@iospress.nl.
I want to use the pay-per-view option and buy an electronic book or article.
How does it work?
First register on IOS Press Books Online, if you have not yet done so. Navigate
to the book or article of your choice and click on 'Add to Cart' on the
right hand side of the page. Please have your credit card ready for checkout. We
accept American Express, VISA and MasterCard. Payment is arranged in a secure environment
and access to the content will be activated straight away. After payment, please
log in to the system again to see your access granted.
I want to use the pay-per-view option. How do I add 1 or more articles to my
shopping cart?
Click on the abstract (this may be empty) of the article and then click on 'Add
to cart'.
I have purchased some electronic books /articles. But the lock symbol on the
PDF icon is still there. What does it mean?
The lock symbol on the PDF icon signifies that an item is protected content,
in other words, that it can not be downloaded for free by everyone. The lock symbol
does not mean you can not download it if you are entitled to do so.
I was denied access to the PDF file(s) I purchased. What do I do?
Please check that you have completed the payment process and are logged in. If
you still can not gain online access, please email the details of your transaction
to our webmaster at: support@stinhuepublishers.net.
SEARCHING, BROWSING AND LINKING
Is full text search possible?
The search engine allows you to search for authors and editors, and for words
in the titles of book series, books and articles.
Can I browse the full text?
We invite you to browse, free of charge, through the front matter, table of contents,
author index or subject index, and abstracts. You can also browse by subject area.
How can I link to an article at IOS Press Books Online?
To find the URL of an article, you just need to click on the abstract, next to
the title. Of course, you can also use the DOI (Digital Object Identifier).
Do you use unique URLs at IOS Press Books Online?
Yes, each of our e-book or e-book series has a unique URL, so that you or your
clients can reach it easily.
What is the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for this article?
The DOI is mentioned with the publication on IOS Press Books Online. If it is
not mentioned the article has not (yet) been assigned a DOI.
